this is for Liz as I have never hear her mention Ins, Life, morgage protection ins, I had to file a bankrupt 13 because of the ins I had did not pay the preme when I was hurt and could not work to keep paying on the monthly bill. Looking at my ins papers after I was hurt there wasen't anything there to show that the preme would be paid if I was not able to work. I had life, mortagage, and disability ins and they did not cover as I was not able to make my payments not working. The ins did not cover so I lost everything that I work my whole life for now I have nothing. Just want to let people know to really read your ins papers over very good and find out who pays if you can't make you payment for how long. -

I am at my wits end. Hasn't anyone notices how much advertising is going on. Yesterday I watched a movie preview and during the preview, I got an advertisment. Today one of the videos I was about to watch had problems loading because the server hosting the advertisment would not load. They will pull this comment, but before they do speek up about this advertising excess; before they ruin the web(anymore than they have). -

LIVING POOR AND LOVING IT?!! WHAT A CONTRADICTION IF I EVER HEARD ONE!!! The title of this segment should have been "A MEANS TO AN END" which is what she said!! She also said that she's does not want tlive like this forever. But the title of this segment makes it sound like it's Ok to be poor!! Anyone who loves being poor is either in denail or demented!! This is just another trick to keep the poor poor by decieving them into believing that being poor is not so bad!! This is the richest country on earth.. we should have abolished poverty a long time ago!! But as long as capitalism reigns supreme with its inhumanity, we will always have poverty. We have no idea of the degree in which we are living a great delusion and poverty is one of its many effects -

this probably works well if you are a single person without any dependents and can afford to live "rent free" in an apartment complex. this would not work for me. i am divorced with a deadbeat ex, two children and live in trailer park. i went back to school and got my degree also. i have to drive a car, my city has lousy public transportation. i have medical through work, but it's not the greatest and God forbid I actually get sick. i shop at the second hand stores and use coupons, but the store brands are still cheaper. I am still in the low paying job i had while in school and because the economy is so bad I am having a very difficult time find new employment. It's been a year since graduation. Now add student loans into the equation and I would be better off staying home and living on welfare. Let's talk reality here. -

how nice it must be to have the privilege of deciding to be "poor." let's not romanticize the countless complications that often are correlated with low income, such as increased health risks, decreased educational resources, and increased environmental stressors. being "poor" often means inadequate prenatal care, sleep deprivation, persistent hunger, and homelessness. this article is infuriating when i think about the over 50,000 children in foster care in this country who are "poor" because they have no other choice--- not because the current economic climate leaves them in the position to reconsider their attitudes toward spending habits. as a social worker, i know many people who live with REAL financial struggles. not one of them will tell you it's possible to "live 'poor' and love it." this article is an insult to people who know you can’t decide how to spend money when you don’t have it (despite holding 3 minimum wage jobs at once). think about it. -

Some good ideas but be careful the lamp you found was recalled due to a high fire hazard. Probably the reason it was thrown out.....I think you can take it to your local fire station and exchange it for a safer model...... -

in about a year and a half I will be 18 and I have to move out due to the fact that my family will be living in a different country and I need to come back to the U.S since I want to go to college and I will have graduated from college. I intend to live as frugally as you have written in your article about surviving on 12,000 a year. of course I also am going to have roomates to make rent cheaper for me and I will also probably have a car. but I intend to live on a very strict budget like you have. -
