Lack of increased gas mileage over the decades is the result of ONE THING. Oil company greed. Let’s look at some quick facts. I have been to transportation museums and seen all makes and models of cars from the beginning to now. On average, gas mileage has never changed. Also, on display at that same museum is an electric car from 1902 that had enough endurance for 100 to 200 mile drives. 1902!! As for my own car, I increased my average mpg by 4 to 6 mpg depending on driving style just by adding simple high performance parts such as an unrestricted air intake, exhaust, headers and a few other things. Finally, every single one of you reading this, Google HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS. It is, on average, a $300 part that will vastly increase your gas mileage and cut your emissions by about 50%. It is the same technology used in WWII on airplane engines. I know someone personally who did this and their big block V8 diesel went from 18 to 36 mpg with no other change. -

With all our technology today, even hybrid vehicles can't beat a Geo Metro that was getting 50 mpg 20 years ago!!!!!!!!!! Let me repeat that: 20 years ago!!!!!!! -

The thing that kills me is that the first two automakers this guy names are Chevy and Ford. Maybe he's not to up on his research but they don't even come close to most foreign makers when it comes to MPG and emissions control standards. And seriously, a four cylinder CHEVY is supposed to make you green? Guess I'll have to go back to the Citation of my youth. -
