Unfortunately, this report like so many on the financial crisis does not dig deep enough. What is at work here is neoliberalism, Bush style. "Accumulation by dispossession" as David Harvey has dubbed it. In every crisis, the Bush administration and the neoliberal strategy is to bail out the financial services sector irrespective of the needs of our citizens. Using taxpayer money, neoliberals have rewarded those who have stolen from their clients beginning with the S&L's in the late 1980's, which Daddy Bush oversaw as chair of the Resolution Trust Commission to the present. Remember Neil Bush. Did he go to jail for robbing the Silverado? Like the gangsters of the 1920's, the neoliberals (i.e. Republican conservative operatives) chose the banks because that's where the money is and it's insured by the taxpayer. What a racket? And, until the American people start reading something other than coffee grounds, they will continue to break the law and be pardoned for their crimes. -
