Please note that not all of North Dakota is cold and wet this season. Western ND farmers are ahead of planting schedules due to the extremely DRY conditions. Here in west central ND we have only had 5.60 inches of precip between July 1, 2007 and May 1, 2008. We had very little, if any, snow last winter. We are in the midst of drought. We are considering temporarily halting wheat planting operations hoping that some form of precip will fall soon. Our fields are dried out and hardened. It's a season of extremes within a few hundred miles. -
