Some myths have a basis in reality. Certian cards do have to be activatied at least the ones that are buisness accounts issued to military or government employees. If you choose not to you will need to call your units finacial manager, supivisor and the company to remove the block placed on the card the first time you try to use it. Try being in a foriegn country and getting this accomplished. The 3rd myth in realiity, if there has been an unusual spending pattern on your account the issuing company can and will place an electronic watch or block on the card which requires a photo id be checked, the clerk has to verify the name and id then indicate this in the system. Some systems ask you to verify by asking your zip code. You can also request this watch be placed on your cards to help prevent unauthorized purchases. Just goes to show you some the myths, can be steeped in reality. Finding out the truths behind them is sometimes more important and innteresting than the myth. -
