Jubak’s Journal: Saving the auto industry
description: Bail out the Big 3? Let them go out of business? There’s a third option, says Jim Jubak -- a pre-packaged bankruptcy that gives them room to restructure while saving taxpayers from simply rescuing the failed management.

To allow th companies to go into bankruptcy would be a disaster. I love how the government will throw 150 million dollars at AIG with no plan and no guarantee they they will ever get it back, yet when the auto companies are asking for a LOAN they are forced to grovel. You want a plan? The plan was allready in place. They are all reducing costs, they've arranged a new pay structure with the unions and most importantly, they've turned their enormous health care legacy costs over to the union. This will save GM alone over 6 billion a year. -
