There will be no apocalypse and if there is I will surely be using the current technology to survive where the rest of you will DIE. I trust prophets like Nastradamus, who HASN'T been wrong, and who predicts the end of our life in a firey blaze in 2012, or revelations from the King James bible..which concurs with what Nastradamus says..only Revelations refers to it as "wormwood" and that one third of the oceans will become "wormwood". Or, like the mayans...who predict just what you're watching in the video...catastrophe before the end...we ARE in the end of days...look around....the world's gettin' smaller, but he people are becoming more, and the waters are rising around us. The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 because that is the end of the astrological age. astrological ages are distinguished by the patterns of the stars and represented by the zodiac. The age we are in now is the age of Pisces and it will end in 2012 (with a cusp of 200 - 600 years). At that time, the vernal equinox point will no longer be facing Pisces , but moved into the constellation of Aquarius, thus beginning the Age of Aquarius. Each age is about 2000 years. The previous age was the age of Taurus. This becomes more evident in the Bible as it refers to the golden bull. The bull being the representation of Taurus. Jesus saying he would lead the people through the next age, that being Pisces: The Age of Monotheism, Spirituality, and the Fish. The next age is Sagittarius: The Age of Freedom, Technology,communication, and the Water Bearer. For some it seems more and more obvious that we are entering this age. -

In my opinion the "world" as we know it ends about every 10 to 15 years. Seriously, in the 1980's the idea of having a small thing attached to your ear allowing you to talk to anyone, anywhere in the world was Science Fiction. There is very little, if ANYTHING familiar in our world to someone from, say 1850. His world is gone, over, history. The average cell-phone or PDA has more computing power and memory than the entire NORAD network (taking up several rooms on several bases) during the Cold War. The world changes. Endings, beginnings, it's all relative. Stop buying into the culture of fear! -

The Myan Long Count Calandar DOESN'T END. By it's very nature it continues like any numerical system Their base 20 system of dates shows Dec 20, 2012 as being 12.19.19.17.19 so that Dec 21, 2012 will be 13.0.0.0.0. Does this sound at all familiar, maybe like some other Millenium End of the World scare? 1999 becomes 2000, 12.19.19.17.19 becomes 13.0.0.0.0, so friggin what? ONE author in 1904 makes a comment about a possible apocalyptic prophecy and a hundred years or so later we're all running around like idiots. The Cold War created a culture of Fear, now we have to find anything and everything to be afraid of since the Big Bad Russian Commies aren't pointing nukes at us anymore. Grow up and do some real research people, or live in fear of the shadow in the closet like a 4 yr old. -

Also, I never said that I don't think there will ever be an apocalypse, or that it won't be drastic, or that it won't be tommorrow, next week 2012, or 2 years from then. What I DID say is that the galactic solstice is an insignificant fart of an event when seen from a rational standpoint, (such as my previous example of the Mesozoic era, where the dinosaurs lived through galactic equinox more than 7090 times, and ~ over 28,000 galactic solstices.) As such this event cannot be considered proof of impending doom for us all. Also, I would like to know where you get your "details" of the so-called Mayan prophecy, because translations of the prediction include references to such things as " a door into the heart of space time opening". I would be understating to say that these interpretations are vague at best... -

the calender runs on a period of 144000 days after that the calender just rests its called a baktun, nothing to do with the end of the world, also this supposed end of the world happens after 13 baktuns, we don't even know what one were on for sure, and texts say nothing about the end of the world it says that Bolon god of war, conflict or underworld, will descend after darkness occurs, after that every things to damaged to make out new text found supposedly say that a man boy from the land of sparks and whispers will come and face Bolon, once again after that things become broken again, says nothing about the end of the world its not even sure if its the correct translation -

Ok, I get the feeling that some people, didn't really understand the point of my earlier post, which was the non-importance of the galactic SOLSTICE in terms of the relativity of the age of the human race, (and the earth), so here is a little perspective check ok? The galactic EQUINOX happens every 25800 years... long time right? No. The Mesozoic Era, which includes the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous ages are considered to envelope the existence of the dinosaurs. This era spanned 183 MILLION YEARS. Meaning that the galactic equinox was achieved over SEVEN THOUSAND NINETY TIMES, and the dinosaurs only died out once. By the way, the human race is estimated at a wee 50,000 years. ALSO, a galactic SOLSTICE occurs roughly 4 times in the span of the 25,800 galactic cycle, meaning the dinosaurs saw this event OVER 28, 000 times! You're welcome! -

The galactic alignment will take place Decemeber 21, 2012....when the winter solstice takes place....anyone on here that says this isn't going to happen..has NOT looked into things. Well, how bout you guys read some facts and stop hyping? For one, galactic alignment happens every 25, 800 years, the last one 800 years ago, meaning the next will occur in 25, 000 years... I know 2012 may seem far away to some, but seriously, do the math. A less spectacular cosmic occurrence known as a galactic solstice happens when the galactic center aligns with a sun solstice, the last being a fall equinox 6450 years ago, the next a winter solstice Dec. 21 2012. Don't know about you, but the whole thing seems like a question of personal interpretation, as the events themselves are of miinor importance. So don't lose any sleep over it. -

I don't understand what's so complicated about everything...obviously, like with the dinosaurs and every other "top of the food chain" inhabitants on Earth, through history, we see that they are cut off rapidly...extinction is inevitable for humans..and we haven't had a good run at it..not even a million years...seriously. I personally think what happens is that wen the Sun does align with our Milky Way and Earth, the Sun's interaction with the Milky Way excites the Sun, and then the Sun throws off mega solar flares and CME)Coronal Mass Ejections in all directions, including Earths. I think that this energy of radioactive waves and matter push meteors, asteroids and whatever else in its path directly at us, and then comes the physical disruptions and also gamma radiation...which radiates and mutates the smallest organisms, which in turn produce the NEXT "top of the food chain" species. -

This theory of pole shifting is ridiculus...There is no substantail proof in the rock record to suggest the idea of rapid pole shifting. Rocks weigh more then ice, so large accumualtions of ice cannot shift entire continents. Also the plates slowly move with time, (plate tectonics) thus showing paleo mag data of some continents being near polar regions. The geographical poles and magnetic poles do not match up, and thus this data cannot be used for correlation. Finally, they clip has only 1 geophysist, and an author of website talk about this theory. Ask any other geologist and they probably have never heard of this somewhat radical theory. -
