Having lived in Bhutan as an expatriate during the 1990s troublesome period, I am appreciative of the stand taken by the king and his government then in safeguarding their sovereignty. Some of my mates from Sikkim were of the view that had not the government of Bhutan taken the stand it had, Bhutan might have become another sikkim like state under India.
